The Firm’s insurance defense team has established a reputation for successful litigation in in all forms of insurance and corporate defense. This includes products liability, medical malpractice, corporate, premises liability, personal injury, commercial and coverage issues.

Holcomb Dunbar’s insurance defense team is approved counsel for many insurance companies and is involved in every phase of insurance litigation. The Firm provides coverage analysis, defense of first-party “bad faith” claims, defense of third-party claims, and has participated in drafting proposed policy language for insurer clients in their presentation to the State Department of Insurance.

Products Liability

Products liability cases have involved asbestos, silica, automotive batteries, burglar bars, light truck wheels, the crashworthiness of automotive interiors, tractor engine design, the design of augers on combines, chain saws, and kitchen fryers. Members have also lectured on these subjects at professional seminars and published peer accepted articles on most areas of civil litigation.

Insurance Defense

Holcomb Dunbar insurance defense lawyers are actively involved in the defense of physicians, nurses, technicians and hospitals. The Firm is retained to defend physicians by the leading insurer of physicians in the State and to defend the hospitals of one of the largest hospital chains in the State.

The Firm has been involved in seminal cases in Mississippi on the civil liability of corporate and lending officers to their organizations, as well as litigation involving shareholder disputes and claims of business fraud and misdealing. Holcomb Dunbar has also litigated in class actions in federal court and has served as liaison counsel in national class actions and multi-district litigation (mass-tort defense).
